Comparing real estate prices and options in Redmond, Kirkland, Woodinville, and Bothell

With tech giants like Microsoft on the Eastside, and others like Facebook spreading their footprint, it's safe to say real estate has been a hot commodity in cities close to these work campuses. I know, Captain Obvious here.

But to the point, if you've been considering buying a home in the area or are moving here for a job, here's a look at how prices stack up amongst Redmond, Kirkland, Woodinville, and Bothell.

Kirkland has been a real hot-spot lately, due largely to its proximity to the Bellevue and Seattle job center, beautiful scenery above Lake Washington, and the expansion of Google's Kirkland campus and work force. As such, the rolling three month median selling price for single family homes came in just shy of $1m at $998,000, with an average of 75 homes to choose from.

Redmond, home to Microsoft, averaged just 42 homes to choose from over the past three months and had a median sales price of $880,000.

For those okay with just a little further drive, Bothell and Woodinville offer some more affordable options compared to Kirkland and Redmond.

Woodinville clocked in with a slightly lower median selling price than Remond over the past three months, at $850,050 and an average of 46 homes to choose from.

But if you're looking for a little more bang for your buck, then consider Bothell, where the $669,950 median sales price was 33% less than Kirkland and 24% less than Redmond. Bothell also offers significantly more homes to choose from with an average of 117 over the past three months.
